Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Wednesday reported 2604 new Covid-19 case while 15 persons succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department.

With this, the total positive caseloads in the State rose to 259541 and the death toll mounted to 1072, added the department.

Of the new cases, 1511 patients are from quarantine, while 1093 are local contact cases. As many as six districts reported a daily surge of over 100 cases. Khordha district has recorded the maximum 385 new case followed by Angul (216), Cuttack (209), Sundergarh (186), Mayurbhanj (122) and Jajpur (113).

The H&FW department said three deaths were reported from Cuttack district while one each death was reported in Balasore, Boudh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Mayurbhanj, Puri, Rayagada and Sundergarh districts.

  • A 65-year old male of Kendrapara who was also suffering from Diabetes.
  • A 68-year old male of Kandhamal district.
  • A 25-year old female of Mayurbhanj district who was also suffering from Compressive Myelopathy.
  • A 60-year old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertensions.
  • A 72-year old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertensions.
  • A 48-year old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes & Hypertensions.
  • A 64-year old male of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Diabetes, Hypertension & Hypothyroidism Disease.
  • A 62-year old male of Cuttack district.
  • A 47-year old female of Jajpur district.
  • A 56-year old male of Balasore district.

Official reports reveal 42167 samples were tested on Tuesday for COVID-19 that include 6451 RT-PCR, 35662 samples via Antigen testing, and 54 samples via Truenat testing, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 3878992.
