Bhubaneswar: With Covid-19 cases showing an upsurge every day, the Odisha government is contemplating to impose day time curfew as a precautionary measure to stop the rapid transmission of the virus in the State.

While talking to reporters, Odisha Assembly Speaker SN Patro on Sunday said “The State government has yesterday only announced night curfew in 10 districts in western Odisha that witnessed a sharp rise in coronavirus cases.”

The Speaker further added that a day-time curfew could be imposed in the State, in addition to the night curfew which will come into effect in 10 districts of the State from April 5.

“Day time curfew is also likely to be imposed in the State in the next 4-5 days. The matter is urgently being reviewed by Odisha Chief Minister and Health Department and a decision is likely soon,” he added.

In wake of the second Covid-19 wave in Odisha, Patro further appealed people to adhere to Covid appropriate behaviour to keep the virus at bay.

“Everybody should follow all the necessary Covid protocols and guidelines issued by the State government,” he added.
