Phulbani/Bhawanipatna: Amid the second wave Covid-19 scare in the State, Micro Containment Zones have been declared in parts of Phulbani Municipality in Kandhamal district and a village in Kalahandi district on Saturday.

The Kandhamal district administration on Saturday declared School Sahi of Dakpala village and five houses in Masterpada under Ward No- 5 of Phulbani Municipality as Micro Containment Zones till further orders.

The decision came after eight persons from Dakpala (of Ward No- 2) and one from Masterpada (of Ward No- 5) were tested positive for Covid-19.

The movement of people within the Containment Zone or to and from the Containment Zone has been strictly prohibited, read the notification issued by the Kandhamal District Collector, Brundha D on Saturday.

The Collector has also directed the Phulbani police station IIC to create a temporary check post at the entry point and exit points to regulate the movement of people to and from the Containment Zones.

For this, the SP has been requested to provide adequate manpower and logistical supports for the check posts at the marked points.

The district Collector has also deployed two nodal officers for the Micro Containment Zones at Dakpala and Masterpada who will be responsible for creating awareness among the public regarding the Covid-19 norms. The officers will also motivate and mobilize people to come forward for testing and follow home isolation guidelines.

The nodal officers will also ensure zero movement of people in the containment zones and 100% active surveillance by the assigned team in the containment zones.

"All inhabitants within the containment shall strictly remain in home. All shopping establishments whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately. The supply of essential and medical requirement will be ensured through various teams under the Phulbani Sub-Collector," read the notification.

Similarly, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and Public Health Officer (PHO) have been directed to complete house to house screening and swab collection of active contacts and shifting of positive patients immediately.

"Intensive surveillance mechanism as outline in the Standard Operating Protocol (SOPI issued by MoHFW shall be established with in the containment Zones," said the official notification.

The Phulbani Municipality has been asked to barricade the entry and exit points of the Containment Zones and engage service providers for all essential services including vegetables, groceries, medicines, etc at door step of the people.

Kandhamal reported 4 Covid-19 cases on Saturday. With this, the district has witnessed a total of 5,964 cases till date which included 10 actives cases, 33 deaths and 5,921 recoveries.

Similarly, Limser village under Brundabahal panchayat in Kalahandi district has also been declared containment zone by the local sarpanch till April 8 midnight.

The move came after a person of the village succumbed to the virus and six other villagers were tested positive on Friday, informed the sarpanch Himangini Rout.

Kalahandi reported 29 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the district has witnessed a total of 6,668 cases till date which included 243 actives cases, 33 deaths and 6,392 recoveries.
