Burla: In view of the rising COVID-19 positive cases in the district, the Sambalpur University has issued strict guidelines for students staying in the varsity hostels.

In a letter to all the superintendents and assistant superintendents of all the P G and M. Phil boys and ladies hostels, Warden B Satpathy advised to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in the hostels.

You are aware of the fact that the COVID-19 virus is spreading very fast in Burla town. Some parts of the town have been sealed by the Government Authorities. You are therefore advised to remain extra careful in this matter, said Satpathy.

He advised boys to come back to the hostels and remain in their respective rooms by 7.30 PM in the evening while stating that the timing of entry of the girls students to their hostels will be as before.

"All the students may be advised to wear mask and maintain social distancing. They may be advised to sanitize their hands/ wash their hands frequently. They may also be advised not to go out of the University campus without any urgent work," he cautioned.

The Warden further said that the toilets and bathrooms of all hostels should be kept clean along with proper sanitisation of the same.

The superintendents and assistant superintendents have also been advised to visit the hostels regularly and keep an vigilant eye on the situation and instruct the hostel ward boys or matrons to report any untoward incidents to them immediately.

"This matter may be treated as Most Urgent and taken seriously," he added.
