Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday emphasised on awareness, enhanced surveillance and testing while reviewing Covid-19 situation in the State.

Holding the review meeting with Collectors of all districts, superintendents of police (SPs) and other stakeholders via video conferencing, Patnaik asked the State police to give special attention for enforcing Covid appropriate behaviour in public places especially in markets, religious institutions and wedding venues.

The CM has directed the Chief Secretary to regularly review the situation.

During the meeting, the State Health department proposed to enhance the RT-PCR testing in the State. Besides, the department recommended setting up of mini-containment zones wherever cluster of cases are detected.

Speaking to the mediapersons after the review meeting, health minister Naba Das said, “All the Collectors and municipal commissioners have been directed to take immediate measures wherever necessary. Steps are being taken to avoid large congregation and violation of Covid-19 guidelines by people.”

“As like night curfew has been imposed in Malkangiri district, the government will take decision in phased manner on the basis of Covid-19 reports from different districts,” Das added.
