Bhubaneswar: As many as 50 persons were cured of COVID-19 in Odisha today, as per the State government, taking the total recoveries in the State to 393. This is for the second time that 50 or more Coronavirus recoveries have been reported in a single day. Earlier on May 18; highest 57 recoveries were reported in the state.

As per the data shared by the Health and Family Welfare Department, while 22 COVID-19 patients recovered in Ganjam, 15 recoveries were reported from Balasore, five from Bhadrak along with three each from Jajpur and Boudh and one each from Mayurbhanj and Rourkela.

Apart from 50 recoveries, Odisha today reported one death and 51 fresh COVID-19 cases. The number of COVID-19 cases in the State now stands at 1,103 while the death toll has risen to seven. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the State is at 703.

As per reports, the patient who died from COVID-19 today belongs to Ganjam, taking the death toll in the district to three.

Out of the 51 cases detected today, four have been reported from Ganjam, five from Jajpur, nine from Cuttack and two cases were from Jagatsinghpur district. Similarly, Angul reported two cases, Nayagarh-11, Puri-1, Sambalpur-2, Malkangiri-1 and Mayurbhanj-3. The new cases reported today also included 11 cases from Kalahandi detected yesterday.

Ganjam district continues to stay on top with 317 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 154 recoveries and three deaths. The total active cases in the district are currently at160. Apart from Ganjam, two other districts which have reported more than 100 COVID-19 cases include Jajpur (179) and Balasore (122).
