Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Monday announced complete shutdown on all Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of June in 11 districts in view of rising COVID19 cases.

In view of the heavy caseload in the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Bolangir, the State government has decided to implement complete shutdown on Saturdays and Sundays.

"Essential services, including healthcare services and medicine shops will be exempted from the shutdown norms. Police, Fire, Ambulance services to remain operational & fuel station will also remain open during this shutdown," said Asit Tripathy.

Odisha today witnessed biggest spike of 156 novel coronavirus cases, taking the State’s tally to 2104. Similarly, as many as 119 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the State today, taking the total recoveries to 1245. The active cases in the State stood at 850 with seven deaths.
