Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded two deaths due to Covid-19 while 229 were tested positive with the virus. With this, the coronavirus death toll in the State rose to 27 while total cases touched 7,545, informed State I & PR Department on Thursday.
While a 49-year-old male patient succumbed to the disease in Ganjan district, the other one a 57-year-old male of Angul died while undergoing treatment.
Of the 229 new cases detected from 19 districts of Odisha, 193 positives were reported from quarantine centres while the remaining 36 are local contact cases.
Ganjam reported the highest 95 cases followed by Balasore (24), Jajpur (22), Khurda (21), Sundargarh (17), Cuttack (12), Jharsuguda (10) and Bolangir (7). Similarly, Nayagarh district reported five cases, Puri (4), Boudh (3), Mayurbhanj (2) while one case each was reported from Angul, Bargarh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar and Koraput districts, the I & PR department data said.

A total of 3,994 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 274672.
