Bhubaneswar: Breaking the streak of 3-digit new cases on a daily basis, the new COVID19 cases in Bhubaneswar city on Monday dropped below hundred for the first time in 11 days. In addition to that, 107 patients have also recuperated from the disease in the city in the past 24 hours.

As per the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), a total of 89 positive cases were detected from the city in the last 24 hours as compared to 118 cases on August 2 and 126 cases on August 1.

Out of the 89 cases reported today, 65 were quarantine cases from Pokhariput, Bhimatangi, Acharya Vihar, Badagada, CBI Colony, Jagamara, Chandrasekharpur, Rasulgarh, Chakeisiani, Delta Colony, Tankapani Road, Unit-6, Kalpana Square, Old Town, Satya Nagar, Kapila Prasad and BJB Nagar areas of the city.

Moreover, 5 cases were reported from Gautam Nagar Slum, 7 from Reserve Police Colony and 17 from Alugadi in Aiginia area.

Similarly, 24 local contact cases were detected from Pokhariput, BJB Nagar, Bharatpur, Bhimpur, Ganganagar, CRP Square, Satya Nagar, Dumduma, Kolathia, Unit-6, Mancheswar, Rameswarpatna, Tamando, Forest Park, Old Town, Nayapalli, Kharavela Nagar and Niladri Vihar areas.

With this the total number of cases surged to 3,068 in Bhubaneswar. While 1,798 patients have already been cured of the disease, the active caseload in the capital city stands at 1250. At the same time, 18 patients from the city have succumbed to the virus as well.

Earlier on July 24, Bhubaneswar witnessed the steepest rise of 248 Covid-19 cases.
