Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 cases in Odisha saw a slight downtrend on Tuesday with 6,073 people testing positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, said the State Information and Public Relations Department.

However, the deaths due to coronavirus infection continued to multiply with 10 patients succumbing to the virus in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

Of the fresh cases spread across 30 districts, 3,522 were detected among people in quarantine and 2,551 were local infections.

It may be noted that the State registered 6,599 cases on Monday and 6,647 on Sunday.

Today’s surge pushed the State’s Coronavirus positive tally to 4,20,129 while the death toll surged to 2,007. The active cases in the State stood at 50,958 while 3,67,111 patients have recovered so far.

While four fatalities were reported from Khordha, three deaths were detected in Sundargarh, two in Rayagada and one in Boudh, added the H&FW department.

As per the data released by the H&FW department, Khordha continued to remain the most affected district and recorded a record tally of 1092 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours while Bolangir with 457 cases remained second in the list.

This was followed by Nuapada (400), Sundargarh (371), Jharsuguda (359), Bargarh (286), Kalahandi (277), Keonjhar (266), Angul (239), Puri (266), Ganjam (209), Nabarangpur (206), Cuttack (198), Sambalpur (158), Mayurbhanj (149), Nayagarh (110), Jajpur (107), Gajapati (79), Balasore (78), Rayagada (77), Koraput (76), Sonepur (74), Bhadrak (65), Kendrapara (64), Boudh (64) and Jagatsinghpur (62).

Other districts which reported less than 50 cases are- Deogarh (36), Kandhamal (34), Malkangiri (29) and Dhenkanal (12).

The State has so far tested a total of 99,54,739 samples including 36,845 on Monday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 4.22 percent.
