Bhubaneswar: The Senior Division Civil Court here on Monday summoned former police IG Anadi Sahu to depose before it on April 5 in connection with a defamation case filed by ex-DGP Sanjeev Marik.

In the order, the court has asked Sahu to appear physically or through an attorney.

On March 4, Marik had filed a civil defamation suit for Rs 50 lakh against Sahu after the latter alleged that Marik has close links with gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta.

The former IG had also accused Marik of having pocketed Rs 7 crores from the gangsters currently lodged in Choudwar jail. Sahu had said that Marik’s transferred stenographer Rabindra Sethi used to take care of his illegal transactions and invest them in various places.

At a press conference recently, Sahu, a former MP, had alleged that Dhalsamanta brothers had taken care of the expenses incurred on the marriage of Marik’s son.

Marik, on the other hand, had demanded evidence of his claim and had threatened to drag the matter to court.

“It is a conspiracy by a group to defame me. How can someone level such allegations without having any substantial proof?” the former DGP had wondered.
