Baripada: A couple residing at Sitaram Sahi under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district has gone missing under mysterious circumstances, forcing their family members to suspect that they have been murdered over alleged sorcery practice.

According to sources, the couple—Sitaram Singh and his wife Leth Singh—had gone to nearby Chhatramba village on Sunday to watch a football tournament. However, they did not return home till late night following which their family members launched a frantic search to trace them.

During the search, the family members stumbled upon blood stains, slippers and broken glass bangles inside a forest near their house. Following this, the family alleged that the duo has been murdered over suspicion of practicing black magic citing that they were earlier attacked over the issue.

“As my parents did not return home, we launched a search and found blood stains, slippers and glass bangles in the forest. Earlier, they were attacked and thrashed by some people on suspicion of practicing sorcery. They held grudge on them and killed them,” alleged Kuni Singh, daughter of the missing couple.

Later, a complaint was lodged at Kaptipada police station in this regard, based on which a team of police along with sniffer dogs visited the spot and inquired into the matter. While the couple still remains untraceable, efforts are on to trace them, sources said.
