Cuttack: Two persons who were admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack were tested negative for the deadly Coronavirus today.
According to sources, the two suspects were suffering from cough and cold and their blood and swab samples were tested at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar and the results came out to be negative.
On the other hand, another person suspected to be affected by the deadly virus was admitted to SCB hospital today. The person hailing from Pattamundai in Kendrapara district reportedly returned to the State from Oman recently. His blood and swab samples will be sent to RMRC for test tomorrow.
A couple who had arrived at Paradip from Singapore are also undergoing treatment at SCB medical. Their samples have been already tested negative for Coronavirus.
Earlier in the day, Union Cabinet secretary reviewed the Coronavirus situation in different States through video conferencing. Odisha Health and Family Welfare department secretary, Nikunja Dhal, NHM Director Shalini Pandit and DMET director CBK Mohanty attended the meeting.
“The cabinet secretary today reviewed the facilities available in different states to deal with situation arising out of Coronavirus outbreak in China. Now, the testing facilities have been made available in RMRC, Bhubaneswar. If more samples are sent which is beyond the testing capacity of RMRC, the samples will be sent to nearest laboratory,” said CBK Mohanty.
Speaking to media persons, Dhal appealed people to adopt some precautions and play Holi safely. “I will appeal to people not to organise gatherings and community lunches. Those suffering from cough, cold and fever should not participate in Holi celebrations,” he said.
