Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation will conduct a four-day long serological survey to detect the prevalence of antibodies against Covid-19 among the citizens of the city starting tomorrow (Monday).

According to a health official of the CMC, the serological survey will start in the city from November 2 and continue till November 5.

The assessment will be conducted in a phase-wise manner. The first segment of sampling will be conducted in 25 wards during which 70 samples will be collected from each ward and the identity of the survey participants will be kept anonymous.

In order to conduct the survey effectively and efficiently, CMC has formed a specialised team that includes the ward officer, health workers, NSS volunteers, Anganwadi workers and sanitary inspector.

According to reports, the survey samples will be collected from one member of a family above 18-years of age. Pregnant women will however be exempted from the test.

CMC City Health Officer, Dr Satyabrat Mohapatra said, "COVID-19 has been existing around us since last 8 months and now it's high time to detect how immune or adaptable have people got. This survey jointly carried in cooperation with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will be carried out between 9am to 5pm."
