Bhubaneswar: Coronavirus outbreak has emerged as a challenge for the whole world and its successful mitigation lies in our own hands and we should tackle it without panicking, exhorted Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal today.

Citing that the Odisha government has taken some proactive steps, the Governor said that it is a collective responsibility of all the citizens to help contain the spread of the virus. Individuals should not only protect themselves from the Coronavirus infection, they should also help others in stopping the spread of the infection.

In a release from the Raj Bhawan, the Governor said that Odisha is the land of Lord Jagannath and the blessings of the lord of the universe are with the people of the State. The people of Odisha not only have the moral fortitude but are also mentally assiduous. “These qualities of the citizens of Odisha will help in tackling big challenges and hence, I request everyone not to panic and mount a collective fight against this deadly virus,” Ganeshi Lal said.

Odisha has proven itself time and again by successfully overcoming natural disasters and becoming a model for the world in disaster management. In tackling the Coronavirus epidemic, Odisha government will also become an exemplary model, the Governor said.

The governor of Odisha also said that in a challenge like the Coronavirus outbreak, there are a lot of lessons which we should heed and not ignore. We should change our actions, lifestyle and be respectful of our environment and nature, he urged.

 

Meanwhile, Odisha govt’s spokesperson on Coronavirus outbreak, Subroto Bagchi today said that out of the 47 samples, 46 have tested negative for Coronavirus and the lone positive patient is under treatment and his health condition is stable. Moreover, Bagchi also urged people not to resort to panic buying of masks as it is effective only for symptomatic persons.
