Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 165 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the State to 4677, informed State I&PR Department.

Of the total fresh cases reported from across 17 districts of Odisha, 140 were detected from quarantine centres while the rest 25 are local cases.

With the addition of the fresh cases, the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the State jumped to 1519 while 3144 recuperated from the disease. So far 11 persons have lost their lives due to the disease in the State.

Ganjam reported the highest 41 cases followed by Gajapati 28 cases, Balasore 21, Cuttack 20, Khurda and Jajpur districts reported 8 cases each. Puri reported 7 cases, Sundargarh 6, Nabarangpur and Mayurbhanj 3 cases each, Jharsuguda and Bolangir two cases each and Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Malkangiri and Koraput districts reported one case each.

Similarly, 11 personnel who had returned from West Bengal after carrying out rescue and restoration work post-cyclone Amphan were also tested positive for the virus.

A total of 4,383‬‬ RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 216607.

On Thursday, while 174 were tested positive for coronavirus, as many as 97 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the disease.
