Cuttack: In a major development, the Sub-Inspector of Narasinghpur Police Station, Rabindra Nayak has been placed under suspension for allegedly detaining and terminating pregnancy of a college-going minor girl in Narasinghpur area.

Besides, four other persons were also arrested by Narasinghpur Police on charges of aiding the main accused who had allegedly kidnapped the minor girl and tortured her in captivity.

The development came two days after a report regarding this was published in odishatv.in.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Athagarh, Alok Ranjan Ray informed OTV about the suspension of Nayak and stated that the main accused is still at large and police is taking all possible measures to apprehend him at the earliest.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the Child Welfare Committee had accused the police of terminating the girl’s pregnancy while detaining her in the police station for three days.

Speaking to OTV, Amiya Bhusan Biswal, a member of CWC had said, “The girl was forced to abort in an unscientific manner. In addition to that she was threatened that her parents would be framed in a false case if she opened her mouth about the abortion.”
