Puri: Hours after pictures of the interior of the Puri Srimandir were uploaded today on social media by police sub inspector Dilip Panda, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi has suspended him.

As per reports, the pictures of the temple premises were found posted on a Facebook post today, thereby raising concerns over security measures at the 12th century shrine.

The pictures of the Srimandir premises were uploaded on the Facebook account of Panda, the Sub-Inspector of Seabeach police station in Puri.

As per reports, the photographs were taken at the 'Baishipahacha' when Panda was offering ‘Shradha’ on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya today. Some of the photographs were also taken inside the temple premises.

Panda clicked a selfie near the “Patita Pabana” and had taken pictures near the Anand Bazaar as well, added sources.

Following the incident, the act of Panda has drawn criticism from different quarters of the society.
