Jagatsinghpur: In another instance of police brutality, an officer of Marine Police station here has been accused of misbehaving with an elderly couple and torturing them in their house at Naharana village of the district.

As per a complaint lodged with Jagatsinghpur ASP Biswanath Mishra, the elderly couple, Sadhu Charan Jena and his wife have leveled allegations against Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Marine PS, Rabindra Senapati claiming that the latter used foul language and shoved them at their house.

“I have come to meet the ASP to lodge a complaint. The officer has assured us action after an inquiry into the matter,” said the complainant.

Reportedly, on July 16, son of Sadhu Charan had a fight with another youth of the village. After both the sides lodged complaints, the local police asked them to be present in the police station for an amicable solution.

Though Sadhu and his son went to the police station, not a single person turned up from the other side. After waiting there for hours, the father-son duo returned home. However, the ASI visited Sadhu’s house after a short while and misbehaved with the couple, the complaint mentioned.

Meanwhile, ASP of Jagatsinghpur, Biswanath Mishra has directed the officials to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report. “I have asked the SDPO Jagatsinghpur to inquire the matter and submit a report. Necessary action will be taken thereafter,” said Mishra.
