Puri: Contractual employees engaged in medical, paramedical, managerial and support functions in Puri district have threatened to launch cease-work protest if their nine-point charter of demands is not fulfilled. According to sources, hundreds of contractual employees today staged a dharna in front of the district headquarters hospital by wearing black badges.

The agitating employees also met the chief district medial officer (CDMO) and submitted a memorandum with their demands which also includes equal pay for equal work. This apart, the employees have also been demanding EPF/ESI provisions and release of pending salary of last 10 months.

The president of the association, Sarat Raiguru has warned that if the government does not fulfill their demands, the employees will launch cease-work from February 23.

Puri CDMO said I have not studied the memorandum given by the agitating employees. I will discuss with the district collector and see what can be done to address the issues, he added.
