Bhubaneswar: The Congress is now in attacking mode after Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley took a dig at the party's manifesto which was released with much fanfare recently.

With the slogan ‘Abki Baar 72,000’ based on its ambitious Nyuntam Aay Yojana, the Congress and its leaders are now trying to counter-attack the Modi-led BJP.

While addressing a presser in Bhubaneswar today, Congress National Spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi lashed out at the Centre and termed demonetization a disastrous policy brought by the Finance Minister and PM Modi.

“The Congress will provide an assured income of Rs 72,000 to the poorest people so that they can live a more dignified life. The blueprint of the scheme has been prepared with proper discussions with top economists who very well know how to eradicate poverty from the country,” said Chaturvedi.

Chaturvedi further took a dig at PM Modi and stated that he formed government by making false promises to the people of the country.

“PM Modi is misleading farmers by stating that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has been increased by 50 percent. But Congress will implement it on the ground after coming to power,” she said.

Responding to Chaturvedi’s allegations, BJP secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar said, “Congress manifesto is just a political gimmick.”
Samantsinghar said that Congress lacks clarity on the issues and the party has failed to keep its promises including farm loan waiver.
