Bhubaneswar: Trouble seems to be mounting for the BJD leader and Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty as Congress today accused the Parliamentarian of submitting false affidavit during 2014 Rajya Sabha election. Mohanty is already in soup over alleged non-payment of poster bills.

Addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Congress leader Nishikant Mishra alleged that in his affidavit, Anubhav Mohanty had mentioned to have completed his +3 from Shobhit Institute of Engineering & Technology, Meerut. But as per the information obtained from Utkal University through Right To Information (RTI) Act, Anubhav is still a student of Kandarpur College in Cuttack as he has not taken any migration certificate which is necessary for admission in other university outside the State, said Mishra.

“In its affidavit before Supreme Court in 2010, the HRD Ministry had mentioned about derecognition of Shobhit University. If the university was already derecognised, how Anubhav Mohanty could study there,” questioned Mishra.

Mishra demanded appropriate action against Mohanty for contesting the poll by submitting false certificate before the Election Commission of India.

Later in the day, Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty refuted the allegations over false affidavit about his educational qualifications. He termed the accusations as false & baseless & deliberate attempt to malign his image.

Earlier, a complaint was lodged against Anubhav at Sadar police station in Kendrapara on January 30 over alleged non-payment of Rs 11.45 lakh on account of printing of posters and other campaign-related materials during 2019 general elections.

The complaint was filed by Smruti Ranjan Swain of Garapur, proprietor of Baladevjew Ad Media (A Printing Shop) in Kendrapara.
