Congress’ MLA Candidate shot at in Odisha, critical

Aska: With just a few hours left for counting of votes, violence surfaced after Congress candidate of Aska Assembly seat, Manoj Kumar Jena was shot at by four bike-borne miscreants near Lanjipalli in Berhampur today.

According to sources, the bike-borne miscreants opened fire at Jena and one of his associates Anil Kumar Swain and fled from the spot this evening.

Soon Jena was rescued and rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. Similarly, Swain, who sustained bullet injuries on his hand has also been admitted to the hospital.

“We were returning from Bhubaneswar, when four bike-borne miscreants opened fire at us,” said Swain.

On the other hand, a minor boy sustained critical injuries after the miscreants, while fleeing on their motorcycle hit him near Golanthara, sources added.

After getting information, the police reached the spot and seized a mouser and a motorcycle.
