Kendrapara: Congress MLA from Rajnagar Anshuman Mohanty Monday served a legal notice to Odisha Food Supplies and Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patro over his controversial remarks on the paddy procurement scam in Kendrapara.

Mohanty stated that Patro should seek an apology over his controversial remarks on the scam. Reportedly, Patro had leveled allegations against Mohanty that the relatives of the MLA, who had raised the issue first, are only involved in the false paddy procurement scam as per the CAG report.

In response to Patro’s comments, Mohanty had challenged him saying that if the minister can prove involvement of any of his blood relatives in the scam, he would retire from politics. He had further challenged Patro to resign if he failed to prove the charges.

Mohanty has also threatened to file a defamation case against the minister if the latter fails to tender an apology. This apart, he informed that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik apprising him about the matter.

“The charges leveled by the minister are false and baseless and if he does not tender an apology immediately, I will file a defamation case against him,” stated Mohanty.

However, the minister’s comments could not be obtained over the matter.
