Cuttack: Questions are being raised over surveillance and security in jails after two videos of Choudwar jail inmates went viral.

Surprisingly, the videos revealed that inmates have easy access to mobile phones and also some special facilities are also being provided to them inside the jail premises without any hassles.

Taking cognizance of the videos, DIG Prisons has questioned the Choudwar Jail superintendent, Rabindra Swain. On the other hand, Swain alleged that the videos were shot in the past, informed sources.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to establish the source of the videos.

"The concerned officials are not taking proper steps and it's very clear that corruption is on the rise. The officials should be asked about the matter and accountability should be fixed," said former DGP, SN Tiwari.

"We have started investigation and the culprits will be punished. It could be a conspiracy also," DIG Prisons, Gopabandhu Mallik said.

"I inspected the jail and everything was normal today morning. I think these videos were shot in the past.  At present I am not in town, and will investigate the matter after I am at the jail," said Swain.
