Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has placed a requisition before the police headquarters for deployment of senior police officials from other parts of Odisha in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar which will play host to three major events including the Men’s Hockey World Cup and Bali Yatra.

Moreover, 30 platoons of police force will be deployed during the winter session of Odisha Assembly starting from tomorrow. Besides, around 60 platoons of police force will be deployed during the Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar.

“We are expecting a lot of demonstrations as it would be the last Assembly session. Similarly, after the inauguration of the new bridge, Bali Yatra will too register an increase in footfalls,” said Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty.

Mohaty informed that all the requisite police arrangements including for the Assembly session, men’s Hockey World Cup and Bali Yatra are being made keeping in view all aspects and challenges.

“The deployments will be made as per our plan and we are hopeful of smooth conduct of these events.

Moreover, forces from other parts of the State will be mobilised and we have sought for deployment of 250 officers, 50 DSP and ACP-rank officers from outside,” Mohanty added.
