Bhubaneswar: As electoral race heats up in Odisha with all political parties battling out against each other to win people's mandate, the police have also geared up to ensure regulation of model code of conduct for the upcoming elections. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar held a meeting with all political parties yesterday in this connection.

Chairing the meeting, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu instructed all political parties to follow model code of conduct, the dos and don'ts for the pre-election period.

Issuing an advisory, the DCP asked the representatives of the parties to maintain decorum in public places, complete the rallies within stipulated time period, refrain from politicising religion, caste in election campaigns and not spread any hate speech to instigate people. This apart, the parties have been strictly prohibited from illegally distributing money via agents for election campaign.

"We have informed the political parties about the advisory for elections. They have been asked to follow the poll code and maintain law and order during the elections," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), AnupSahu.
