Bhubaneswar: The Twin city Police Commissionerate building is all set to be renamed as Police Seva Bhawan. Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi announced this while addressing the 12th-raising day parade of the Twin City Police.

As per reports, apart from renaming of the building, Sarangi announced a host of other measures to strengthen the presence of police in the Commissionerate area, which includes a robust CCTV infrastructure, appointment of Special Police Officers (SPOs) to ensure women safety and regulate the traffic operation.

Thanking all the police personnel of the Commissionerate for imparting their duties selflessly, Sarangi said, We have decided to go a step further from our previous motto of 'We Care We Dare' and embark on a new thought process of 'Our Police Our Safety'.

"Creation of an sophisticated facial recognition system using artificial intelligence and adoption of advanced emergency response system will be ensured to identify offenders so that organised crime can be eliminated," said the CP.

Sarangi also stressed that to bring police and public more closer, cops will be trained to induct three things into their work ethics, i.e sensitivity, compassion and professionalism.

To mark the occasion, a unit of 300 women SPOs was inaugurated today by DG of Police, Abhay.

DGP Abhay thanked all the police personnel for successfully implementing 'Mo Sarkar' in the police department.

He said, "A rapid and co-ordinated response is the main challenge for the police in the urban areas. We are trying to set up a unified control room for both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. More PCR vans to patrol the streets are also in the pipe line."

"Women empowerment for gender sensitive policing will be implemented from today. I wish all success to this noble initiative," added Abhay.
