Combined Police Service Examination: Aspirants stage hunger strike in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Demanding publication of the supplementary result of Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE)- 2013, several aspirants, who had appeared for the exam, have launched hunger strike in Bhubaneswar from Friday.

The aspirants were on a dharna at Lower PMG since August 1 and decided to intensify their agitation after no step was allegedly taken by the State Government to resolve their grievances.

As per reports, the candidates had appeared the CPSE 2013 conducted by Odisha Staff Selection Committee (OSSC) to fill up nearly 844 posts. The result of the examination was published on December 7, 2016.

Although more than 100 posts are still vacant in combined police service, no steps are being taken by the OSSC and State government to fill them, alleged one of the aspirant.

Meanwhile, the aspirants are demanding immediate publication of supplementary merit list so that the candidates can be recruited against the existing vacancies.

“Though we cleared the examination, our names were not in the final merit list. After the recruitment to various posts was completed, around hundred posts remained vacant. As per the rule of Home Department for the CPSE, the vacant posts should be allotted to the candidates in the second merit list. Though three years have passed, the recruitment process is yet to be completed,” said Radhashyam Barik, a candidate.

Meanwhile, the concerned authorities could not be contacted over the allegations and demands of the aspirants.
