Bhubaneswar: In view of the second surge of the Covid-19 cases in Bhubaneswar, students at various colleges in the Capital City staged protests in their respective campuses on Thursday demanding the conduct of online examinations.

As per reports, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), BJB and Rajdhani College students staged agitation in front of their college gates to protest against the offline examination and demand online tests.

OUAT students gheraoed the Vice Chancellor’s office to press their demand. Few days ago, a number of people had tested positive for Covid-19 from OUAT. Hence, to curb the further spread of the deadly disease the students have demanded online examination.

“The second wave of Covid-19 is very dangerous. It is spreading very first. By appearing in offline examinations we will jeopardy our and others lives. It is not possible for us to appear in offline examinations. The authorities should conduct online examinations or else postpone the examinations,” a student of OUAT said.

Meanwhile, BJB students also staged a demonstration before the main gate of the college and demanded online examination. They shouted slogans like-‘Teaching in Zoom, Examination in room’ to put pressure on the college authorities.

“They took our classes online and now are forcing us to appear in offline examinations. Who will be responsible if some of the students succumb to Covid-19? Appearing in offline examinations is not acceptable,” said a BJB student.

Rajdhani students also resorted to similar means and demanded online examination.
