Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions affected normal life in some parts of Odisha as the minimum temperature dropped below 15 Degree Celsius in at least 12 places in the past 24 hours. Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature (night temperature) of 11 degree Celsius on Monday night.

As per the data shared by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, Sonepur recorded minimum temperature of 11.4 degree Celsius, Angul (11.6), Baripada (12), Keonjhar (12.4), Talcher (12.5), Bhawanipatna (13.6), Jharsuguda (13.8), Cuttack (14.5) and Chandbali recorded minimum temperature of 14.8 degree Celsius on Monday.

Smart City Bhubaneswar was relatively warmer. While the minimum temperature remained at 16 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.2 degree Celsius.

The Met department officials said that for the past two days several parts of Odisha have been experiencing the winter chill due a sudden drop in the minimum temperature.

The pattern suggests that cold wave conditions will prevail in Odisha for the next couple of days as there is possibility of further drop in the minimum temperature in the next 48 hours.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is experiencing a fresh spell of cold wave after a brief gap of almost a week. The mercury had dropped to 11.2 degrees Celsius at Sonepur on Sunday night.
