Bhubaneswar: As the cold wave condition continues to sweep Odisha, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday suggested the elderly and infants to stay indoors and exercise concern in the next two days.

Cold wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi ,Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada and Nawarangpur, the IMD said in its mid-day weather bulletin.

As per the observation of the IMD's Bhubaneswar centre , the minimum temperatures observed appreciable fall at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

A five-day weather forecast from (2 Feb to 7 Feb) that was released by the weatherman warned 16 districts of cold wave conditions.

Day 1 (valid from 1:30 PM IST of 02.02.2021 up to 8:30 AM IST of 03.02.2021)

Yellow Warning: Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada and Nabarangpur.

Though the cold is tolerable but there remains mild health concern for infant/elderly people. The met centre has suggested the elderly and infants to avoid prolonged exposure to cold during night and early in the morning. It has further suggested to keep live stocks indoors and in shaded areas during night and early in the morning.

Day 2 (Valid from 8:30 AM of 03.02.2021 up to 8:30 AM of 04.02.2021).

Yellow Warning: Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.

Same health alert for infants and elderly on day-2 too.

Though cold conditions will see an improvement on Day-3 and Day-4 (from 8:30 am of 04.02.2021 up to 8:30 am of 06.02.2021), shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts in coastal areas.

Day 5 (valid from 8:30 am of 06.02.2021 up to 8:30 am of 07.02.2021)

Yellow Warning: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Boudh.
