Cuttack: Enforcing the Covid-19 appropriate behavior, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Thursday sealed two diagnostic centres at Ranihat for alleged violation of norms.

As per reports, the enforcement squad of the Cuttack civic body sealed Maa Diagnostic Centre and Geeta Diagnostic Centre after finding lapses in the implementation of Covid norms during a drive today. The authorities sealed the two centres after evicting the customers and staff.

During the drive, the squad raided several private clinics and diagnostic centres around the SCB hospital and have shut down some of them for not maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour.

Speaking about the drive, Paresh Kumar Naik, the Enforcement Officer of the CMC said, “The COVID infection is increasing in the urban areas with each passing day and we want to contain it before the situation goes out of our hands.”

“During our drive, we found that these diagnostic centres are not abiding by the COVID guidelines. So we sealed two of them and collected fine from several others,” Naik added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the State on Thursday witnessed a major spike in daily Covid-19 positive cases in 2021 with as many as 2989 persons testing positive. Out of the 2989 positive cases, Cuttack district reported 208 cases. Similarly, two patients succumbed to the virus in the State in the last 24 hours.
