Malkangiri: The much-awaited Gurupriya Bridge, which is considered to be the lifeline of 30,000 tribals in the cut-off areas of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri, will be inaugurated on July 26.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the bridge, said Malkangiri MLA, Manas Madkami.

The inauguration of the Gurupriya Bridge was scheduled on July 18, but was postponed due to bad weather and heavy rain across the district.

Meanwhile, amid rain and rising water level the bridge has already been thrown open to public for use.

On the other hand, the District Congress Committee has called for a 'Chitrakonda Bandh' on the same day protesting the inauguration. Similarly, Maoists have also opposed the inauguration of the bridge.
