Bhubaneswar: The directorate of higher secondary education has imposed restriction on admissions in six junior colleges in Odisha. The move comes after several junior colleges recorded nil results in +2 Science stream, the results of which were announced on June 3.

Official sources said restriction on admissions to six junior colleges has been imposed while show-cause notices have been served to remaining three colleges.

Higher Secondary School of Art & Culture in Dhenkanal, SRM Science Higher Secondary School in Bhubaneswar, Nano Science Higher Secondary School in Bhubaneswarand Sri Aurobindo Institute of Integral Education and Research in Sambalpur have been debarred from undertaking admissions since last year.

The CHSE has imposed restriction on admissions to Shree Jagannath Dev Higher Secondary School at Belpada in Bolangir and KPD Women’s Higher Secondary School at Daspalla over zero results this year.

Out of the total 97,750 students who appeared the CHSE science exam in 2019, 72.33 per cent students passed compared to 76.98 per cent in 2018.

Balasore district recorded the highest pass percentage of 86.56 per cent while Gajapati registered the lowest pass percentage of 36.2 per cent this year in Science stream.
