Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the projects for development of Chandrabhaga and Talasari beaches into world-class tourist destinations.

As part of the project, a 2-km stretch of the Chandrabhaga beach on the Konark coast of Puri district will be developed and the work is expected to be completed within a year.

Similarly, a 2.5-km stretch of Balasore's Talasari will also be developed. As per the plan, luxury and budget hotels will come up in the area so that tourists can stay at the beach for days.

The government has set a target to complete the projects by October 2021.

This apart, CM Naveen has directed officials to look into the prospects to develop other beaches in Puri and Ganjam district.

Several other facilities like kiosks, sitting islands, solar photo volatic panels, amphi-theatres and restaurants among others will also come up at the beach to attract tourists.

The Chief Minister also thanked the Puri district administration and the tourism department for their efforts which helped the Chandrabhaga beach get the Blue Flag certification.

The tag is given to environment-friendly and clean beaches, equipped with amenities of international standards for tourists.
