Rayagada: In a single day, multiple incidents of chain snatching have been reported in Rayagada sparking serious concerns on the security of people in the city.

Reports said unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched away chains from Sushila Mohaptra of New Colony, Bulubala Behera of Indira colony and K. Kanakadurga of Nehru Nagar in three different incidents in the city. However, it is yet to be clear whether the snatching incidents were committed by the same miscreants or not.

Narrating about the incident, one of the victims, Sushila Mohapatra said, "Two bike-borne youths stopped near me while I was standing in front of my house. The person seating in the pillion came towards me and inquired about a temple. I suggested them to ask elsewhere as I was not aware of the address. But then he tried to confuse me and within a blink of an eye, he snatched the chain from my neck and fled the spot."

"Bike-borne miscreants pulled away my chain from behind following which I lost my balance and fell down. When I realized that I had been looted, I called out for my son, but by that time, they had fled the spot," said another victim Bulubala.

After complaints over the incidents, Tapan Narayan Rath, Rayagada SDPO said, "We immediately visited the locations and collected information about the incidents. During the investigation, we have received a link which will help us to nab the miscreants."

Rath has also assured to arrest the snatchers as soon as possible and recover the stolen ornaments from them.
