Kendrapara: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today disbursed financial assistance to landless farmers under the KALIA Scheme at Baro in Kendrapara.

Under the scheme, landless farmers will get Rs 12,500 assistance in three instalments for livelihood support and agriculture. In the first phase a total of 3.50 lakh landless farmers will receive the benefits. During his visit to Kendrapara today, the CM also laid the foundation of 18 welfare projects worth Rs 173 crore.

It is pertinent to mention here that, on December 21, 2018 Odisha government had announced the KALIA scheme to support small and marginal farmers and landless agricultural labourers in the state.

As a part of the scheme, the government has decided to provide small and marginal farmers financial support of Rs 10,000 per year in two tranches of Rs 5000 during Kharif and Rabi seasons. Secondly, livelihood support of Rs 12,500 for landless farmers will also be disbursed under the scheme.
