Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Sunday busted a cargo theft racket and arrested 10 persons in this connection from Cuttack district.

As per reports, a team of STF had conducted a raid at Baba Dhabaleswar Coal Dipot after getting reliable inputs regarding organised cargo theft and illegal unloading of costly materials from inter-state vehicles by miscreants near NH-66 yesterday.

During the raid, the STF found eight trucks loaded with Low Ash Metallurgical Coke (LAM Coke) from the spot.

“Around 54 metric tons of Lam Coke were found to be stolen and stored at the spot by miscreants illegal for the purpose of sale. The cost of the seized materials is worth around Rs 13,50,000,” STF said in a release.

The STF officials said that 10 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident. All the accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections-379, 411, 120 (B) and produced before the court.
