Bhubaneswar: With several examinations including Matriculation examination being cancelled in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Plus II students are now in a state of apprehension whether to appear the exam or it will be cancelled.

Scores of students on Thursday staged a demonstration at Lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar demanding cancellation of the examination in view of the Covid-19 situation.

“If Matric and other examination are being cancelled why can’t the Plus II exam,” questioned a student.

Another student said that already bulk of the time has been lost and the State government should cancel the Plus II exam so that they can decide on their next course of action.

“A lot of students faced problems while taking online classes. Similarly, we feel that it will not safe to appear the exam in offline as there is no improvement in Covid situation,” said a student.

Amidst such confusion and demand of cancellation of Plus II exam, Odisha School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash advised the students to keep studying till a final decision is taken by the State government over the conduct of the Plus II examination.

“I will advise the students keep themselves abreast and keep studying. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already announced to review the Covid situation and take a decision in June,” said Dash.

According to Dash, if the Covid situation doesn’t permit to hold the crucial examinations, the State government will take an appropriate decision at the right time.

“The department is ready and appropriate decision will be accordingly taken,” he added.
