Bus with passengers smashes into truck in Cuttack, 15 injured

Cuttack: At least 15 persons were injured after a bus they were travelling in lost control and smashed into a truck from behind near Jagatpur-Manguli road on NH-16 in Cuttack district today.

As per reports, the victims were rescued by the locals and rushed to a nearby hospital. Five of the injured including the bus driver were shifted to SCB Medical Collage & Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.

The mishap occurred when the ill-fated bus was heading towards Bhubaneswar from Balasore.

“The bus driver lost control over the vehicle as he was trying a high-speed turn and it dashed into the truck parked on the roadside," said Prashanta Pradhan, an eyewitness.

Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot after getting information and started an investigation into the incident.

In another incident in Cuttack, an oil tanker caught fire near Jagatpur College in Choudwar. While the locals rushed to the spot to douse the flames, the driver of the tanker is reportedly absconding.
