Building Inauguration Sparks Tension In Balasore College

Balasore: Tension prevailed at Karmada Surendranath College under Bhogarai block of the district after two students were injured following a group clash over inauguration of a new building inside the campus today.

As per sources, former union minister Srikant Jena had provided financial assistance for the construction of the building.

However, a few students staged a protest after State Higher Education Minister Ananta Das arrived at the college to inaugurate the new building today.

Though police forces were deployed on the spot, two college students sustained injuries after the protest erupted into a pitched battle between two student groups.

On the other hand, one Gourav Kumar Singh alleged that the clash erupted when they were opposed by their rival group during confrontation with the minister. “The Higher Education Minister had come to inaugurate the building. We wanted to ask him a question but we were not allowed to do so. The other group opposed this due to which a clash erupted,” he said.
