Malkangiri: Hundreds of tribals from the Swabhiman area here gathered to participate in the Jan Sampark Abhiyan organised by the BSF Jawans at various panchayats in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district on Monday.

The campaign aimed at creating an awareness among the innocent tribals to stay away from the red rebels.

According to sources, the Jawans conducted various welfare camps in the area in order to extend a helping hand to the tribals. Free health check-up camps were organised and free medicines distributed among the tribals. This apart, the BSF Jawans distributed household materials, clothes, footwear, blankets, study materials and stationeries among the male, female and tribal children.

The initiative was taken by the Jawans to build a special bond with the innocent tribals and in a way deviate them from the traps of the ultras.

“We are happy that thousands of tribes of various panchayats witnessed the programme and made it successful” said BSF Commanding Officer Amaresh Arya.
