Brown Sugar Worth Rs 10 lakh Seized In Bhubaneswar, Woman Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Intensifying crackdown on the illegal trade of narcotics in Odisha, the special task force (STF) of the State Crime Branch assisted by the Commissionerate Police seized 102 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 10 lakh from Narayan Basti in Unit 8 area here on Tuesday.

A woman peddler has been apprehended in connection with the incident and a case has been registered at Capital Police Station for necessary legal action against her, a senior official said.

Earlier on January 7, the Crime Branch STF had seized Brown Sugar weighing 1 kg 310 grams worth Rs 1.5 crore following a raid in Khordha district.

A peddler, identified as SK Anwar of Kaipadar area was arrested in connection with the incident, senior officials had said.
