Balasore: In a joint raid, a Special Task Force (STF) and two police teams on Monday nabbed five men, including two ring leaders, in connection with a case involving the smuggling of brown sugar which was registered at Jaleswar, recently.

The ring leaders have been identified as Chhota Sajan and Muna. After tracing the link of the miscreants with the brown sugar smuggling case, the STF, Puri police and Jaleswar Police jointly conducted a raid in the Rajpur area and nabbed five conduits in the cartel in the wee hours on Monday. Sajan and Muna were amongst them.

According to sources, so far this year the STF has seized 22.168 kg of brown sugar and registered 24 cases against the narcotics peddlers. Moreover, the STF has arrested as many as 49 persons in connection with the several crackdowns it had conducted against organised drugs syndicates, this year.
