Bolangir: A minor girl was admitted to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (BBMCH) in Bolangir with critical burn injuries on Monday morning. The uncle of the girl alleged that her father has set her on fire by pouring kerosene.

She was rescued by her neighbours from her house at around 3 AM and rushed to Bhima Bhoi Hospital where she is undergoing now, said reports.

The girl's father, identified as Arakhita Nag of Debripali village under Belapada police limits of Bolangir district reportedly has two wives and the minor girl is his first wife's daughter. The girl used to live at her uncle's residence since childhood. However, after a village meeting few days back, she was sent to stay with her father.

Meanwhile, the uncle of the girl alleged that Nag didn't want to keep his daughter and therefore attempted to kill her.

"His father has set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her. He (girl's father) has two wives. Fearing that she would demand her share of property from him, her father tried to kill her," alleged the victim's uncle.

A complaint in this regard has also been lodged at the Belapada Police Station. Further details are awaited.
