Bolangir: Lawyers in Bolangir district intensified their protests over their long-standing demand for establishment of a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in the region. The members of Bolangir lawyers association launched a 4-day cease-work stir in the district leading to a shutdown of offices of the Collector, Tehsil and Sub-Collector from today. All the court-related works came to a standstill due to the strike.

The lawyers have been demanding establishment of a permanent High Court bench and protesting for the same since September 2018. Though they had called off their cease-work stir, the lawyers have once again recommenced their protests alleging that the government has failed to pay heed to their demands.

"Cease-work stir will continue until the establishment of the High Court bench in Bolangir and till the time the State government doesn't provide strong recommendations on the matter to the Central government," said Pramod Kumar Tripathi, Chairman of Bolangir lawyers association.
