Bargarh: A youth died on the spot while another sustained grievous injuries when a bike in which they were trying to cross the road collided head on with a speeding truck near Rengali Camp Chhak under Atabira police station limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Bidyadhar Pradhan of Barahamunda village under Atabira police station limits. The seriously injured Subala Mahakud of Gandapali village has been shifted from Bargarh District Headquarters hospital to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla where his condition is stated to be critical.

Reports said the duo was on the way to a nearby rice mill where they were working on a bike in the morning. While trying to cross the National Highway at Rengali Camp Chhak, a speeding truck collided with their bike killing Bidyadhar on the spot.

Following information, Atabira police rushed to the spot and took the body to Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital for post mortem. Mahakud, who was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital, was later shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital as his condition became critical.
