Youth killed in pre-poll violence

Dhenkanal: Tension ran high at the District Headquarters Hospital here this evening following the death of a youth who was shot at during a pre-poll violence in Tarabha village this afternoon.

According to reports, Salman Rout, a youth of Tarabha village was seriously injured after sustaining bullet injuries during a pre-poll violence in the village.

He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Following his death, tension ran high in the Dhenkanal town after irate villagers and kin of the deceased blocked the main road near the hospital keeping the body on the road.

Following information, district collector rushed to the spot with police force to take stock of the situation.

Vehicular traffic came to a grinding halt due to the road blockade.

Till reports last came in, the road blockade still continues despite the intervention of the district administration.
