Youth killed in attack by miscreants over past enmity

Khurda: Youth killed by a group of miscreants in an attack over past enmity near Badapokharia in Khurda district this morning has erupted tension in the area.

The deceased, identified as Chitrasena Jena of Badapokharia village, was attacked near a pond by the miscreants with sharp weapons leading to his death. Besides, the attackers fired at one of his hands.

A motorcycle and a pair of sandals were found nearby the youth's body.

Family members of the deceased allege Chitrasena, who left home at around 4 am on Friday in the motorcycle, was killed by a particular group.

The local police reached the spot and launched a probe into the youth murder case.

Meanwhile, the locals were dissuaded from staging a road blockade on NH-16 by the police after assuring them an immediate arrest of the persons involved in the killing.

Sources said police forces will be stationed in the village keeping in view of the tension eruption following the murder incident.

Notably, frequent political violence including bomb hurling cases had occurred in Badapokharia area earlier.
